International Window Film Association Contributes to Sustainability Initiatives at Consumer Energy Alliance Energy Day

Leading Experts Gather on Capitol Hill to Discuss How to Boost Energy Efficiency, Conservation and Sustainability

WASHINGTON, October 13, 2010 -- On Capitol Hill today, the Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) will host its 4th annual Energy Day, and release its latest report on ways American business sectors are implementing sustainability initiatives. The event will kick off with the first ever Sustainability Forum, featuring commentary from leading experts and business executives on how myriad business sectors and municipal governments have advanced initiatives aimed at boosting energy efficiency, conservation and sustainability. Among the speakers will be the International Window Film Association (IWFA), a key contributor to the sustainability report.  The event, which begins at 2:00 p.m. in the Senate’s Kennedy Caucus Room includes more than 40 members of Congress serving on the host committee, and nearly 30 companies, organizations and municipal governments will be represented.

CEA Energy Day brings together consumers, businesses, manufacturers, agricultural organizations, retirees, transportation, energy providers and municipal governments to discuss energy strategies and their role in helping to create jobs, revitalize the economy and improve our nation’s energy security.  This year’s Sustainability Forum will introduce a discussion on how myriad business sectors and municipal governments have advanced initiatives aimed at boosting energy efficiency, conservation and sustainability. CEA’s Sustainability Report — which will be officially released at the forum — will contain best practices and achievements from every sector of the American economy in their pursuit of more effective energy management practices.

“Energy Day provides a unique stage for business leaders, government officials and their staff to share ideas on the direction that our nation’s energy policy is headed and discuss the immediate concerns of American consumers,” said CEA president David Holt. “With some areas of the nation facing 15 percent or more in unemployment rates, there should be a common sense of urgency felt throughout the business community, as well as in Washington, for developing comprehensive energy policies that will help get Americans back to work, and CEA’s broad-based membership will be echoing that sentiment on Capitol Hill today.”

The IWFA is dedicated to educating consumers, businesses and government agencies on the energy efficiency and cost savings of window film. Through its works with the more than 6,000 local window film dealers and installers in the United States, the IWFA also supports job creation and the economic growth of small businesses.

“CEA is a great opportunity to debunk common misconceptions about window film and address government leaders about its key benefits,” said Darrell Smith, executive director of IWFA. “We are excited for the opportunity to take part in the Sustainability Forum as we all push to lessen the consumption of traditional sources and reduce our carbon footprint.”
